What J-Album pursues isn't the best audio (제이앨범이 추구하는 오디오)

제이앨범이 추구하는 것은 최고의 오디오 보다는 최적의 오디오입니다. 

커피는 잔에 가득채우는 것이 아니라 80~90%만 채우는 것이 좋다고합니다. 바로 그것이 제이앨범이 추구하는 것과 같습니다.

앞서 6V6에 대한 이야기를 했지만 6L6이 출시되던 1936년에는 6L6이 가정에 사용되기엔 너무 과도한 스펙이었습니다. 마치 피아노를 옮기기 위해 덤프트럭을 사용하는 것과 같습니다. 가장 적절한 1톤 트럭에 해당되는 것이 바로 6V6이었습니다. 

그런데 당시 6L6에서 파생된 진공관이 하나 더 있었습니다. 25L6이었습니다.

 히터를 직렬로 연결해서 전원 트랜스포머 없이 라디오의 음성출력단에 사용하기 위해 6L6을 기반으로 개발된 것입니다. 게다가 낮은 전압에서 비교적 큰 출력을 내었기 때문에 용도가 매우 다양했습니다. 전류가 크기 때문에 의외로 두툼한 소리가 난다는 평도 있습니다. 두툼하다는 표현은 아마 중저역의 파워가 딸리지 않음을 의미할 것입니다. 6V6이나 25L6처럼 상황에 맞게 최적으로 설계된 진공관처럼, 사용 환경에 맞는 최적의 오디오 설계가 제이앨범이 추구하는 방향과 일치합니다.

They say you shouldn't fill a coffee cup all the way to the brim. Eighty to ninety percent is the sweet spot. That's exactly the philosophy J-Album lives by.

We talked earlier about the 6V6, but when the 6L6 hit the market back in 1936, it was simply overkill for home use. Think of it like renting a dump truck just to move a piano. The 6V6 was the one-ton pickup — perfectly sized for the job.

Now, around that same time, another tube was spun off from the 6L6 family: the 25L6. It was developed from the 6L6 specifically for the audio output stage of radios — designed to run with heaters wired in series, no power transformer needed. On top of that, it could push a decent amount of output at lower voltages, which made it surprisingly versatile. And because it draws higher current, some folks say it has a thick, meaty sound to it — "thick" probably meaning the mids and low-end never feel starved or thin.

Just like the 6V6 and the 25L6 were engineered to be the perfect fit for their specific applications, designing audio that's optimized for its actual environment — not just impressive on paper — is exactly what J-Album is all about.
